What are online paid surveys?
Paid surveys are exactly what they sound like – surveys that you complete online for money. Believe it or not, you can actually get paid to do surveys in the comfort of your own home.
Basically, a paid survey is exactly like other surveys you have no doubt completed in the past. You are asked a series of questions and really, that is it. The surveys are generally a decent length. They will often have a target market in mind so you will need to supply demographic details (ie age, gender, etc) before you will be given access and you will not be suitable for all surveys for this reason.
Once you have registered, you will generally get access to surveys which are appropriate for you and then get an email regularly when there is a paid survey available. You can then choose whether to do it depending on if you have enough time free and if the compensation seems worthwhile. If you want to get paid for surveys, it’s a good idea to sign up for many different survey sites as any individual site is not likely to have that many surveys available for you to do
Survey money can come in many different forms. My favourite ones will pay you immediately via PayPal or your bank account. However, usually you will have to wait until you have completed a certain amount of surveys, and thus earned enough points, before you can cash out your money. Some survey sites will only pay in gift vouchers, so it’s important that you are happy with that as a method of payment before signing up.
Who can do Paid Surveys Online?
Anyone can do an online survey, although if its a survey site based in another country, ensure they cater to Australians before starting. As mentioned above, survey sites will take into account your demographic data and only allow you to do online surveys for money which are appropriate for this demographic. This means that some sites will be better than others as an income source for you. This also means that just because your mum/friend/colleague is doing well with one site doesn’t mean that you will too.
Paid surveys in Australia are best suited for people who have small amounts of spare time and would like to make some extra money. Surveys are never going to earn you enough money to quit your day job. At best, people can make around $200 a month and to do that you need to sign up for lots of survey sites, be the right demographic and be serious about it. For most of us, an online survey here and there is a good way to get some extra money for the occasional splurge.
For these reasons, surveys can be a good option for stay at home mums who have some downtime during the day and want a quick and easy way to earn money without bothering with clients, employers, etc. They can also work well for students who have some free time in the holidays or retired people who are happy to complete the occasional survey for money for an extra $50 here and there. It’s important to understand that the return on investment for your time is very low.
This youtube video discusses some American sites from which the presenter is able to make $500-600 a month in an hour or two a day. It can give you an idea of what is involved. It is easier to make more money from this in the USA as there are most survey options.
